For March's monthly member spotlight, we are featuring Ocelot member Amna Asghar. Members are artists and printmakers who pay hourly fees that allow them to use our full range of equipment.
Amna's work mostly references Pakistani digest magazines. She says, "Using advertisements, as a language of persuasion, to reference ideas of identity, swaying between East/West persuasions."
AMNA PRINTS MOSTLY: "I am primarily interested in screen printing on canvas. I started with one color prints, but just finished my first 4 color separation prints with Ocelot."
AMNA PRINTS # HRS/MONTH: "My hours are pretty sporadic but about 15 hours a month."
AMNA'S FAVORITE THING ABOUT OCELOT PRINT SHOP: "Ocelot is a community-based printshop and welcomes all sorts of projects. The staff are extremely helpful and the shop is well organized making things run incredibly smoothly. It's a valuable place for learning and for the community to come together."
